4 Day Devotional: Jesus is Savior - Day 2

Day 2 – Confronted: The Response of Jesus

Scripture:
John 8:6–9 (NIV)
But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. 9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there.

Reflection:
Jesus’ response was unlike anything anyone expected. Instead of arguing, He stooped down. Instead of condemning, He stayed calm. And with one sentence — “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone” — He turned the whole situation around.

He didn’t excuse her sin, but He also didn’t let their hypocrisy go unchecked. That’s the beauty of Jesus: He tells the truth, but He does it with grace.

Questions:
  • How does Jesus’ calm and compassion challenge the way you handle conflict or correction?
  • Is there an area in your life where Jesus is quietly writing in the dust — inviting you to see truth in a new way?

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for confronting me with patience and love. When I’m tempted to pick up a stone, remind me that I’ve been forgiven too. Amen.
