3 Day Devotional: As If It Were You - Day 1

Day 1 — We Are All HUMAN — Even in Prison

Scripture
“Remember those in prison, as if you were there yourself.”
— Hebrews 13:3a (NLT)

Devotional Reflection
Hebrews begins by calling us to remember those in prison—people, not cases or numbers. Incarceration may remove freedom, but it does not remove humanity. Every person, regardless of their actions, still bears the image of God. That image may be distorted by sin or buried beneath broken choices, but it is not erased. When Scripture calls us to remember, it is inviting us to resist dehumanization and to see people as God sees them—fully human and still worthy of dignity.

Reflection Questions
What labels tend to replace names when you think about prison?
How does remembering the image of God in every person reshape your perspective?

Prayer
God, help me to see people—not labels. Remind me that every life still bears your image, and teach me to remember others with compassion and dignity. Amen.
