The Song of Hope (O Come, O Come Emmanuel) 4-Day Devotional: Day 3

Day 3: The Cry for Freedom
Verse:
“O come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free
Thine own from Satan’s tyranny;
From depths of hell Thy people save,
And give them victory o’er the grave.”

Scripture: John 8:36
“Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”

Reflection:
Jesus, the Rod of Jesse, gives victory over sin, death, and despair. Through His
death and resurrection, He defeated the enemy’s grip and offers us eternal hope.
When life feels heavy, remember that Jesus has already won the battle, and we
can walk in His victory.

The refrain calls us to rejoice: “Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel shall come to thee, O
Israel.” Even as we face challenges, we can celebrate the hope we have in
Christ’s triumph over every obstacle.

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for the victory You have given through Your death and
resurrection. Help me to live in confidence and rejoice in the eternal hope You
provide. Amen.
