The Song of Joy: (Joy to the World) – 4-Day Devotional

Day 1: Joy Comes from Receiving the King

Scripture: Psalm 98:4-6
"Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth; break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises. Sing to the Lord with the harp, with the harp and the sound of a psalm, with trumpets and the sound of a horn; shout joyfully before the Lord, the King."

Hymn Stanza:
"Joy to the world, the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And heaven and nature sing."

Reflection:
Joy begins when we open our hearts to the reign of Jesus. The hymn "Joy to the World" calls us to receive our King, not just with words but with our whole lives. True joy takes root when we surrender to Christ’s rule, obey His commands, worship Him fully, and make room in our hearts for Him.

Question: Have you prepared room in your heart for Jesus today? What distractions might you need to clear out to let Him reign?

Prayer: Lord, help me to recognize Your authority in my life. Teach me to prepare my heart for
You daily, so I may fully experience the joy You bring.

Amen.
