4 Day Devotional: Four Women and a Girl - Day 2

Day 2 – Do What You Can

Scripture
Exodus 2:3 (NIV)
“But when she could hide him no longer, she got a papyrus basket for
him and coated it with tar and pitch. Then she placed the child in it and
put it among the reeds along the bank of the Nile.”

Devotional
After Pharaoh orders every Hebrew baby boy to be thrown into the Nile,
a Levite woman named Jochebed gives birth to a son—Moses. She hides
him for three months, protecting him as long as she can. When hiding is
no longer possible, she builds a small basket, waterproofs it, and places
him among the reeds along the riverbank. Pharaoh commanded death in
the Nile, but she entrusts her son to God in that same river. Jochebed
cannot change the empire or overturn the decree. But she can build a
basket. Her faith shows us that God does not ask us to fix
everything—only to do what we can with what we have. Faithfulness
often begins with the next courageous step.

Reflection
 What situation feels beyond your control?
 What faithful step can you take today?

Prayer
God, show me what is mine to do. Give me courage to act and trust You
with the rest.
