4 Day Devotional: Four Women and a Girl - Day 3

Day 3 – See People Over Policy

Scripture
Exodus 2:5-6 (NIV)
“Then Pharaoh’s daughter went down to the Nile to bathe, and her attendants were walking along the riverbank. She saw the basket among the reeds and sent her female slave to get it. She opened it and saw the baby. He was crying, and she felt sorry for him.”

Devotional
The basket carrying baby Moses drifts near Pharaoh’s daughter, an Egyptian princess and the child of the very king who ordered Hebrew boys killed. She knows the decree and recognizes this is a Hebrew baby. Yet when she opens the basket, she hears his cry and feels compassion. In that moment, she chooses mercy over policy. Pharaoh saw a threat;
she saw a child. Her decision required courage, but she allowed compassion to interrupt power. In a world that reduces people to labels, her response reminds us that redemption often begins when someone truly sees. Faith sometimes means looking beyond systems and responding to the person in front of you.

Reflection
 Have you reduced someone to a label?
 Where is God calling you to choose compassion?

Prayer
Lord, open my eyes to see people as You see them.
