3 Day Devotional: Inspiring Hope - Day 1

Scripture
“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.”
1 Peter 3:15 (NIV)

Devotional Reflection
Peter writes to believers who are trying to remain faithful in difficult circumstances. They are doing good, yet still facing opposition. Rather than denying their pain, Peter points them to the hope they already possess in Christ.

Hope is believing that a good future is still possible even when you cannot see it yet. It lives in the space between what is and what could be. Hopelessness says, “This is all there is for me.” Hope says, “What I see right now is not the end of the story.”

Many of us know what it feels like to wonder if anything will ever change. We can do what is right and still face disappointment, grief, uncertainty, or suffering. In those moments, we do not simply need encouragement; we need a reason to hope.

Peter's answer is clear: “In your hearts revere Christ as Lord.” Christian hope is rooted in who Jesus is. Because Jesus was raised from the dead, suffering does not have the final word. Because Jesus is Lord, our circumstances do not have the final word. Because God has promised a future for His people, the present is not all there will ever be.

You may not know what comes next. You may not know when your situation will change. But you can know the One in whom your hope rests. Inspiring hope begins with having hope, and we have hope because Jesus is alive and Jesus is Lord.

3. How can you intentionally place your confidence in Christ's lordship today?

Prayer
Lord Jesus, when my circumstances seem overwhelming, remind me that You are alive and You are Lord. Help me resist the despair that tells me nothing can change. Strengthen my faith in Your promises and anchor my hope in Your resurrection power. Teach me to trust You even when I cannot see what lies ahead. Amen.
