3 Day Devotional: The Authority of Love - Day 2

Day 2 — Love That Confronts What Opposes It

Scripture: Mark 2:6-8
6 Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, 7 “Why does this fellow talk like that? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?” 8 Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, “Why are you thinking these things?

Reflection:
Love is not always soft. Sometimes love confronts. In the room that day, opposition didn’t shout — it whispered. It lived in thoughts. Assumptions. Pride. Control. And Jesus addressed it anyway.

Love with authority confronts what stands between us and God — even when it lives inside of us. Pride. Bitterness. Judgment. Fear. Self-righteousness.

The question today is not just What is God doing around me? The question is: Am I responding with surrender or resistance?

Because you always have a choice — to move toward what God is doing, or to guard what God is trying to change.

Fasting Practice:
Before evaluating someone else with criticism or judgment, pray: “Lord, show me my heart first.”

Prayer:
God, search my heart and remove anything that resists You. If there is pride, fear, or judgment in me, change me. Help me trust You more and stay open to what You are doing in my life. Amen.
