God’s Redemption At Christ’s Expense - 4 Day Devotional

Day 1: The Danger of Arrogance Toward God

Scripture: "Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, ‘If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.’” – Luke 23:39 NKJV

Reflection: The first criminal mocked Jesus, blinded by arrogance. He wanted Jesus to prove Himself, focusing only on earthly salvation and missing the eternal gift of grace right before him. Arrogance can cause us to reject God’s blessings because we’re too focused on ourselves. Are you caught up in trying to prove yourself to others? Remember, Jesus didn’t respond to arrogance—He stayed focused on His mission. Let’s keep our eyes on God’s greater plan, not the distractions of pride.

Prayer: Lord, help me to surrender my pride and trust in Your purpose. Teach me to see Your grace at work and not miss it because of my arrogance. Amen.

Challenge: Identify one area of your life where pride might be blinding you to God’s work. Surrender that area to Him today.
