Fight or Flight: 3 Day Devotional
Day 2 — The Challenge
Scripture: “You know that everyone in the province of Asia has deserted me, including Phygelus and Hermogenes.” — 2 Timothy 1:15 (NIV)
Reflection:
Paul doesn’t hide the pain of abandonment. People he expected to stand with him walked away — some from fear, others from misplaced wisdom, and some from mere convenience.
Faithfulness to Christ can be lonely, and even people we love and admire may step back when the cost gets too high.
If you’ve ever felt let down, you’re not alone. Even Paul knew that sting. Yet God uses these
moments to deepen our dependence on Him and to test whether our loyalty is to Christ or to the comfort of company.
Question: Has someone’s absence or betrayal caused you to pull back from God’s call on your life?
Prayer:
Father, You know the pain of being deserted. Help me not to let disappointment turn into
discouragement. Teach me to remain faithful even when I stand alone, knowing You are always with me. Amen.
