4 Day Devotional: Jesus is Savior - Day 1

Day 1 – Caught: The Reality of Sin

Scripture:
John 8:3–6 (NIV)
The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” 6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.

Reflection:
She was caught. Her sin was real, her shame undeniable. But before we point fingers at her, we have to admit — her story looks a lot like ours. Maybe we’ve never been dragged into a courtyard, but we’ve all stood guilty before God. Sin has a way of finding us, reminding us that no matter how strong or successful we seem, we can’t fix ourselves.

And yet, even in that exposure, Jesus shows up. He doesn’t turn away. He meets us where we are, not to humiliate us but to heal us. Being “caught” isn’t the end of our story — it’s the beginning of grace.

Questions:
  • What does it look like for you to stop hiding and let Jesus meet you where you really are?
  • How has God used a hard or humbling moment to remind you of your need for Him?

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for loving me even when I’m caught. Teach me to see conviction as an invitation to grace, not as a sentence of shame. Amen.
