3 Day Devotional: Don't Forget to Say Thanks - Day 1

DAY 1 — Gratitude Evokes a Return

Scripture: 11 While traveling to Jerusalem, he passed between Samaria and Galilee. 12 As he entered a village, ten men with leprosy met him. They stood at a distance 13 and raised their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” 14 When he saw them, he told them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And while they were going, they were cleansed. 15 But one of them, seeing that he was healed, returned and, with a loud voice, gave glory to God. - Luke 17:11-15 CSB

Reflection:
Gratitude always begins with recognition. The Samaritan man didn’t wait until he reached the priest—he noticed what God had done while he was still “on the way.” Many of us are moving through life so quickly that we miss how God has been healing, keeping, strengthening, and guiding us in the middle of our journey. Real gratitude interrupts our plans and draws us back to Jesus. It reminds us to pause and acknowledge the grace we walked past. When we return to Him in gratitude, we discover that recognition is the doorway to deeper relationship and renewed trust.

Reflection Questions:
What blessing from this week did I almost overlook?
What “on the way” grace do I need to pause and acknowledge?
Where is God inviting me to return to Him today?

Prayer:
Lord, open my eyes to see Your hand in my life. Help me recognize the grace I’ve walked past and give me the courage to turn back to You with gratitude. Interrupt my pace, re-order my priorities, and draw me to Your feet in worship. Today, I return to You with thanksgiving. Amen.
