3 Day Devotional: A Call to Benevolence: Worship, Not Waste - Day 3
Day 3: Benevolence Fulfilled
Day 3 — Benevolence Fulfilled
Scripture: Matthew 26:12–13 (NIV)
12 When she poured this perfume on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial.
13 Truly I tell you, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.”
Reflection:
The woman’s act in Bethany was more than generosity — it was prophecy. Her gift pointed
forward to what Jesus was about to do on the cross. What she did in love, He fulfilled in
obedience. She poured out her best; He poured out His all.
That’s where benevolence finds its fulfillment. The perfume that filled the house foreshadowed the love that would fill the world. Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection are the ultimate expression of divine generosity — the perfect act of giving that could never be repaid.
Through Him, benevolence is no longer just a moment — it becomes a mission. His compassion continues through us. When we serve, give, and care for others, we carry the fragrance of His love into our community. What the world once called waste, Jesus still calls beautiful.
Personal Reflection Questions:
As you reflect on Jesus’ benevolence, prayerfully consider:
1. In what ways can my life reflect His self-giving love to others this week?
2. Do I feel led to give toward the Benevolence Fund — not out of obligation, but as an act
of worship?
3. Do I feel called to serve as part of the Benevolence Ministry — helping our church
extend compassion beyond the walls?
There’s no pressure, only invitation. If the Spirit stirs your heart to give or serve, follow His
leading — that’s where worship becomes witness.
Prayer:
Gracious Savior, thank You for pouring Yourself out for me. Help me to respond to Your
generosity with open hands and a willing heart. Whether through giving, serving, or simply
showing kindness, let my life reflect Your love. May everything I do be a fragrance that points people back to You. Amen.
