3 Day Devotional: Don't Forget to Say Thanks - Day 2

DAY 2 — Gratitude Eliminates Barriers

Scripture: 15 But one of them, seeing that he was healed, returned and, with a loud voice, gave glory to God. 16 He fell facedown at his feet, thanking him. And he was a Samaritan. 17 Then Jesus said, “Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? 18 Didn’t any return to give glory to God except this foreigner?” - Luke 17:15-18 CSB

Reflection:
The Samaritan man crossed every barrier—cultural, religious, historical—to get back to Jesus. Gratitude pushed him beyond limits others placed on him and even limits he placed on himself. When we live gratefully, walls of pride, shame, and unworthiness begin to fall. Gratitude softens our hearts and removes the distance we feel between ourselves and God. It reminds us that nothing is strong enough to keep us from Jesus except the barriers we choose to keep standing. When gratitude takes root, it frees us to approach Him boldly and honestly.

Reflection Questions:
What barrier—internal or external—has kept me from drawing near to God?
How has pride, shame, or fear tried to silence my gratitude?
What would it look like for me to cross the line and come closer to Jesus today?

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for meeting me even in the places where I feel least worthy. Tear down every barrier that keeps me from drawing near to You. Break the walls of pride, shame, comparison, and fear. Make my heart open, humble, and grateful. And let nothing stand between Your presence and my worship. Amen.
